Add Device to Collection

The problem

Software deployments are scoped through Device Collections. Every new deployment, every patch ring, every test wave requires building a target collection.

  • Console click-through — each device addition requires several dialogs in the AD picker — slow and error-prone.
  • Silent deployment failures — devices not yet discovered by SCCM get added anyway, then the policy never reaches them.
  • Inconsistent operator behaviour — two technicians, two different ways of building the same target collection.
